Whitehead Garden is doubly lucky to be the recipient of both over 20 volunteer hours from a group of Monsanto employees, as well as a grant of $250. The volunteers worked a couple of afternoons in the garden weeding, pruning, and cleaning up after our long, wet winter.
In addition to the support of Monsanto, Orchard Supply Hardware’s Woodland branch has also supported our garden with both supplies and labor. This past summer and fall OSH employees donated both their time and materials in updating our drip irrigation system, and then later donated a large supply of hand tools, electric tools, and irrigation materials to our garden.
Finally, we submitted an grant application to HM Clause, in Davis, for a garden grant and came in first place! We were awarded $500 to support our garden! This money was partially used to purchase several composters.
